Overview of the Exam Structure
In the telc Deutsch B1 exam, participants complete tasks in all language competencies.
Written Section
The receptive part consists of reading, listening, and language components, with task types such as multiple choice and matching exercises.
Listening (3 parts, approx. 30 minutes):
Participants listen to three different audio recordings and answer related questions.
Reading (3 parts, 90 minutes):
Participants read texts of varying difficulty and complete matching or multiple-choice tasks.
Writing (1 task, approx. 30 minutes)
Participants write a short text, such as a message or a note.
There are no breaks between the written sections.
Oral Section
The speaking part emphasizes interaction between participants. It lasts about 15 minutes and includes three tasks:
Speaking (3 tasks, approx. 15 minutes)
Participants introduce themselves, react to everyday situations, and engage in a short discussion.
The exam usually takes place in pairs and includes a 20-minute preparation time.
