Exam Structure & Process
The telc B2 Profession Exam evaluates your advanced German proficiency with a strict focus on the corporate world. All topics and required vocabulary are grounded in everyday professional situations. The test assesses both receptive and productive skills through a written and an oral section.
Written Examination
The written segment consists of four distinct parts: Reading Comprehension, Language Elements, Listening Comprehension, and Written Expression. There is a mandatory 20-minute break during this portion of the exam.
Reading: 60 minutes
In this subtest, candidates engage with profession-specific texts and complete various exercises, such as multiple-choice questions or matching tasks.
Language Elements (30 minutes)
This section assesses your command of grammar and vocabulary specifically within a business and professional context.
Listening (approx. 30 minutes)
Candidates listen to a range of audio recordings based on everyday workplace scenarios and subsequently answer related comprehension questions.
Oral Examination (20 minutes)
Typically conducted as a paired exam with two candidates, this section requires you to discuss work-related topics. The primary focus is on direct interaction and communicative exchange between you and your partner. You will receive 20 minutes of preparation time prior to the exam.

This is a traditional, paper-based exam. Successful candidates are awarded the telc German B2 Profession certificate, officially validating their ability to communicate independently in professional settings. Please note: Taking only the written or only the oral portion is not permitted for this test.
